This is the second subwoofer to be released during 2007 as part of the new Ultimo subwoofer series.
Capitalizing on the trademark technologies of its full range speakers, Morel has engineered the Ultimo subwoofer series to set new industry standards. Morel’s entry into the SPL/SQ subwoofer market extends its product mix, presenting car audio dealers with a comprehensive set of speaker applications.
Following closely on the successful debut of Morel’s Ultimo 12 subwoofer audio car speaker released in July 2007, the Ultimo 10 leverages the identical technology and craftsmanship that have brought the Ultimo subwoofer an extraordinary string of competition victories and glowing reviews since its release.
In October 2007, Morel received two SEMA Global Media Awards for the Ultimo series which were selected by a prestigious jury comprised of 51 leading international journalists that reviewed over 1,500 new style and performance products. “We are proud to have been selected out of all the nominees, and win this award twice with the Ultimo Subwoofer.” Says Mr. Oren Mordechai, Morel’s Executive Vice President.
Marty Price of INCAR Entertainment magazine wrote in his review of the Ultimo 12 subwoofer: “Absolutely everything that was played through this subwoofer sounded terrific and almost lifelike. When I had classical music playing, it was like I was at the actual Sydney Opera House… It plays deep (very deep) and with an accuracy and speed I’ve not heard in a long time.”
The Ultimo subwoofer series is built to set new car speaker industry standards with high-end subs that generate deep, controlled and accurate bass tones in reasonable sized enclosures. “Morel incorporated all of its renowned technical and acoustical know-how in the new subwoofer series and the market response has been extraordinary,” says Morel’s CEO, Mr. Meir Mordechai. “The new, handcrafted Ultimo subwoofer speaker is proving itself both with those who demand the highest sound quality performance, and with those who seek the power of 1000WRMS (3000W Peak).”
“The most significant feature of the new subwoofer series is its 5.1” (130mm) diameter External Voice Coil, which is likely the largest voice coil ever in this type of product,” says Mr. Mordechai. This feature helps produce powerful, accurate, dynamic and musical bass notes, even under extreme conditions.
Morel utilizes extra thick Hexatech™ hexagonal-shaped aluminum coil wire (2-3 times thicker than standard subwoofers) for accurate music reproduction and for superior durability and power handling.
The Ultimo subwoofer car speaker series employs a unique paper-carbon fiber composite cone to achieve the extraordinary combination of musicality and sound pressure both in SQ and SPL applications.
“Great emphasis was placed on developing the sub’s outstanding features,” says Morel’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Oren Mordechai, “such as our new progression field symmetry (PFS™) engineering which enables optimal performance of the spider
and surround, even at high output levels, maintaining high voice coil linearity and very low distortion.”
In addition, Accucenter™ self-centering engineering enables easy and quick repair of a damaged voice coil, if necessary, by simply dismantling the magnet motor system and replacing the entire cone and aluminum die-cast chassis with a new assembly.
The new Ultimo subwoofer is driven by a powerful Double Magnet ferrite Motor (DMM™) design that maximizes the magnetic field (over 90% efficiency). An Xmech of +/-27.5mm and Xmax of +/-12.5mm are maintained in proportion to the magnet motor top plate and to the cone weight and diameter, resulting in minimum distortion and maximum SPL.
