New HU series from Morel to begin shipping at CEDIA 2004
New hi-fi drivers feature Uniflow die-cast aluminum chassis.

- Morel's new line of hi-fi drivers incorporate yet another technology first - a new chassis employing the company's proprietary Uniflow design.
"Uniflow provides a unique solution to the acoustical and mechanical needs of our large diameter voice coil woofers," says company founder Meir Mordechai. "The aerodynamic design allows air, created by the cone movement within the chassis, to flow smoothly and uniformly without creating any interference or having any effect on the woofer's moving parts. Consequently, sound reflections are minimized."
"Uniflow contributes significantly to the woofers' overall performance," comments Mordechai, drawing attention to a number of significant benefits:
- The aerodynamic design allows for greater uniformity of airflow.
- Sturdy support is given to Morel's unique Hybrid magnet motor by three pairs of elongated pillars, which embrace the magnet motor and provide firm construction and support to the entire chassis thereby preventing any chassis deformation.
- The geometric design allows the use of a low profile flat spider, which provides greater support and stability to the voice coil and cone during the most demanding operating conditions. Moreover, it permits greater excursion of the cone to create deeper and lower bass notes.
- The large opening at the base of the chassis allows free airflow that cools the magnetic motor and the voice coil. The opening also dramatically increases the woofer's acoustical loading in its working cavity.
Available in three sizes, 5.25", 6.50" and 9.0, the new drivers also feature Morel's 2" and 3" Hexatech aluminum voice coil and EVC technology. "We anticipate our new drivers will find favor with audiophiles who seek innovative technology that delivers superior sound quality," concludes Mordechai.
