Morel announces it’s newly engineered driver line for the OEM and DIY market segments

- Morel, one of the world’s foremost loudspeaker driver manufacturers since 1975, sets it’s sights on leading the DIY and OEM market segments by introducing three newly engineered drive unit lines.
“The DIY and OEM segments have gone through some really radical changes during the past couple of years,” states Mr. Meir Mordechai, Morel’s president and founder, “These changes opened a window of opportunity for us to lead the market with new and innovative products that will offer our existing and potential customers a wide selection of high quality drive units from a reliable manufacturer.
The new drive units are divided into three lines: “Supreme”, ”Elite”, and “Classic Advanced”. Each line features high quality finish, high consistency and most importantly – Outstanding acoustical characteristics,” continues Mr. Mordechai.
Each line is comprised of tweeters and woofers of matching design, acoustical performance and price point levels. The woofers in all three lines employ Morel’s unique Uniflow™ die cast chassis, 3” voice coil, low Qts and low resonance point.
Dome midrange and tweeters, were developed to employ a newly designed aluminum faceplate incorporating the advantages of Morel’s new technological feature, the IDR™ -Improved Dispersion Recess. The new IDR™ design enables a wider off-axis dispersion of high frequencies, resulting in an overall smoother performance. All new tweeter models are equipped with a refined faceplate texture, offering extraordinary acoustical characteristics and exceptional quality finish.
The Supreme line features the pinnacle of Morel’s renowned technological know-how and craftsmanship.
Supreme tweeters acquired new high quality faceplates, incorporating the specially developed IDR™ (Improved Dispersion Recess).
Two new products joined this line:
◆104 mm diameter tweeter.
◆A mini version with a 72mm diameter tweeter.
Supreme woofers incorporate unique cone material, under hung voice coil, Uniflow™ die-cast chassis and high excursion. This woofer line is at its final design stages and will be unveiled at the end of November 2007. It is sure to set new standards in woofer sound quality and technology.
The Elite line is the result of many years of acquired knowledge and experience.
Elite woofers have a 6mm X-max, Neodymium magnet systems and a long full sized copper ring for linear impedance. The woofers also employ a 18mm length voice coil with a 28 Hz(9“ woofer) to a 39 Hz (5” mid woofer) low resonance point and low Qts.
The Elite tweeters and dome midrange are based on the MDT 33, MDT44 and MDM55 unique qualities. They employ improved magnets and faceplates, all made of aluminum material with high quality oven coating.
The unique IDR™ - Improved Dispersion Recess technology - has taken these units up to a higher level – nearing the qualities of the Supreme tweeters. To complete this package the Elite series tweeters are available at 110mm, 104 mm and 72mm in diameter.
The Elite Midrange line newest novelty consists of a 2.1” soft dome constructed in a 130mm
IDR™ - (Improved Dispersion Recess) aluminum faceplate.
The Classic Advanced line is based on Morel’s classic line- the renowned MW series and the famous MDT lines. The Classic Advanced line consists of a wide range of sizes and a new amazing quality finish.
This line’s tweeters incorporate a new 104mm faceplates and powerful magnet systems.
The woofers exploit reinforced Ferrite magnets for the double magnet system delivering higher magnetic flux motor, and improved low resonance and Qts points. These products have a higher consistency and upgraded power handling due to the aerodynamic Uniflow™ open chassis and large diameter spiders.
