We strongly believe that audiophiles can enjoy high-end sound quality without paying premium prices. Our confidence in Octave Octwin 5.2's design led us to create a system that replicates the Octave Octwin 5.2 - the Octave Octwin 5.2M. The system has one key difference: its cabinet is constructed from MDF, while retaining its audio quality.

MDF speakers have inherent qualities that affect sound reproduction: notably sound coloration caused by resonance and vibration of the enclosure's side panels and the phenomenon of standing waves. In response, Morel developed the TRICO™ construction, which uses three layers of material to significantly reduce sound coloration. Octave Octwin 5.2M's enclosure is constructed from MDF with internal braces. The outer layer of the enclosure is a 3/16" thick polymer-based substance that acts as an acoustic insulator and creates an extraordinary finish. The third layer, coating the enclosure from the inside, is a bitumen-based substance that acoustically absorbs standing waves and panel resonance. The TRICO™ construction considerably diminishes sound coloration.
