Integration Reference IR-BMW42

As part of the Reference level, the 2-way IR-BMW42 component system for BMW takes sound performance to new levels. Music lovers will be consumed by the level of tonal purity, detail, and ease of listening.

Featuring DirectFit, the unique 4-inch chassis design with supplied mounting brackets, easy snap-in 1.1” (28mm) tweeters, and factory wire connections allow the IR-BMW42 to fit modern BMW models without the need for modification.

The IR-BMW42 is based on Morel’s highly regarded Hybrid speaker series. Each 4-inch (100mm) woofer uses a 2.1” (54mm) voice coil and a powerful hybrid EVC™ motor design, offering exceptional power handling and unmatched cone control. The hi-res tweeter uses Morel’s proprietary 28mm Acuflex™ silk dome and dual neodymium magnet motor. This culminates into a plug-and-play speaker system that simply has no equal.

Technology

DPC cone

DPC, or Damped Polymer Cone, is a direct derivative of the cones Morel has built its reputation upon. With high self-damping characteristics, this cone provides exceptional sound quality without coloration or harshness.

EVC motor

Morel speakers with EVC™ technology utilize voice coils that are up to three times larger than those used in conventional loudspeakers, enabling improved heat dissipation, power handling and linearity. The EVC™ design moves the magnetic motor system to within the voice coil, eliminating stray magnetic flux by effectively directing all the magnetic energy to the voice coil. The EVC architecture is over 90% more efficient than conventional design, magnetically shielded, and highly compact.

Handcrafted Acuflex soft dome

A specially engineered damping compound hand-applied to the soft domes, adding rigidity and damping, which greatly improves the clarity and bandwidth of the tweeter/mid-range. The Acuflex™ diaphragm exhibits controlled cancelling break up (accurate–flexing), meaning each break-up mode is counteracted by another in the opposite direction, enabling smooth frequency response. 

 

Hybrid magnet motor

The Hybrid motor drive system uses a ferrite magnet together with a very powerful neodymium magnet. Combined they create a compact, lightweight motor system that is up to four times more powerful than conventional designs of the same size. With Hybrid, more amplified power is converted into sonic energy for flawless performance, even in a small driver.
